Change what someone can do

Everyone on your team has one of three roles: Owner, Staff, or Groomer. The role decides what they can see and do.

  1. Click the gear icon at the top right to open Settings.
  2. Click Staff.
  3. Click the pencil next to the person.
  4. Choose a new Role. If you choose Groomer, they move to Settings → Groomers.
  5. Click Update.
  1. Open Settings and click Groomers.
  2. Click the pencil next to the groomer.
  3. Choose a new Role, like Staff. After saving, they’re listed under Settings → Staff.
  4. Click Update Groomer.

The change applies right away. Their menus update the next time they switch back to Packyard, or within 5 minutes. They don’t need to log out.

  • Only an owner can make someone an owner, or change or remove another owner.
  • You can’t remove the last owner. If you’re the only owner and try to change your own role, you’ll see Cannot remove the last owner’s owner access. Make someone else an owner first.
  • Don’t use custom roles yet. The Roles & Permissions page lets you create roles and tick permissions, but the ticked permissions aren’t used yet. Someone with a custom role can’t take payment or add customers. Stick to Owner, Staff, and Groomer.
  • Owner who also grooms? Keep your role as Owner and click Add myself as a groomer in Settings → Groomers. See Invite staff.
  • When someone leaves, remove them instead of changing their role. See Invite staff.
