Edit a customer

Keep a customer’s details up to date: rename them, change their address, update who you contact, or take them off your list.

  1. Open the customer’s page.
  2. Click Edit name and address.
  3. Change the Customer name or the address fields. To clear a field, delete its text.
  4. Click Save. You’ll see Customer updated.

The customer name is what shows in your customer list, on the calendar, and on receipts.

  1. On the customer’s page, find Contacts.
  2. Click the pencil next to the contact.
  3. Change their First Name, Last Name, Email, or Phone.
  4. Tick or untick Opt-in to receive SMS appointment reminders. If you tick it, they get a welcome text.
  5. Click Update Contact.

Reminders, receipts, and agreements go to the primary contact.

  1. Click the pencil next to the contact who should be primary.
  2. Tick Primary contact.
  3. Click Update Contact.

The old primary contact becomes a regular contact. You can’t untick Primary contact on the current primary. Make someone else primary instead.

  1. Click the pencil next to the contact.
  2. Click Remove contact, then confirm.

You can’t remove the primary contact. Make someone else primary first.

Archive a customer who no longer comes in. They disappear from your customer list and search. Their past appointments and payments stay.

  1. Open the customer’s page.
  2. Under Danger zone, click Archive customer.
  3. Click Archive.
  1. Go to Customers and click Archived.
  2. Open the customer.
  3. Under Danger zone, click Restore customer.

Deleting removes the customer, their contacts, and their pets for good.

  1. Open the customer’s page.
  2. Under Danger zone, click Delete customer.
  3. Click Delete.

You can only delete a customer who has no appointments, payments, or messages. Otherwise Packyard tells you to archive them instead.

  • Added the same person twice? Delete the copy you just made, before you book it.
  • The Archived filter is on a computer. On a phone, archived customers don’t show in the list.
  • Only owners and staff can edit customers and contacts. Groomers can see them, add client notes, and upload pet photos.
