Add a groomer for one day
Sometimes a groomer picks up an extra day, or stays late just once. Add them to that day from the calendar. Their usual work hours stay the same. These steps are for a computer.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- You need to be an owner or staff. Groomers can’t add or change shifts.
- The groomer must already be set up in Settings → Groomers. See Invite staff.
Add a groomer to a day they’re off
Section titled “Add a groomer to a day they’re off”- Go to Appointments.
- Make sure Day is selected, then use the arrows or the date button to go to the day you want.
- Click Add groomer. It shows how many groomers are off that day.
- Under Groomer, pick who to add.
- Under Hours, pick Morning, Midday, Afternoon or Full day, or set the start and end times yourself.
- Leave Text … about this shift checked to send the groomer a text. Uncheck it if you’ve already told them.
- Click Add … to the day, like Add Riley to Sat.
The groomer’s column appears on the calendar right away, with an Extra shift badge next to their name. You can book them for those hours, and so can customers who book online.
You can also start from the groomer menu at the top left of the calendar. Groomers who are off are listed under Not scheduled today (or Not scheduled this day). Click Add today, or a button like Add Sat 10, next to their name.
Change a groomer’s hours for one day
Section titled “Change a groomer’s hours for one day”Use this when a groomer already works that day but the hours are different, like starting late or staying late.
- Go to Appointments and open the day.
- Click the groomer menu at the top left of the calendar.
- Under Working today (or Working this day), click the hours next to the groomer’s name.
- Set the new hours.
- Click Save hours.
Their column shows an Hours changed badge for that day.
Change or remove a shift
Section titled “Change or remove a shift”- Click the Extra shift or Hours changed badge next to the groomer’s name on the calendar.
- To change the hours, set new ones and click Save hours.
- To undo it, click Remove from day for an extra shift, or Back to usual hours for changed hours.
- A shift is for that one date only. The same day next week follows the groomer’s usual hours.
- Shifts need to be at least 1 hour. Shorter than that and you’ll see Pick at least 1 hour.
- Move appointments first. You can’t save hours that would leave a booked appointment outside them. You’ll see a message like Bella at 9:30 AM would fall outside these hours. Move it first. The same goes for removing a groomer from a day when they still have appointments.
- Texts need a phone number. If the groomer has no phone number on file, the shift is still saved and the message at the top of the screen says they couldn’t be texted.
- More than one location? The shift is added at the location you’re viewing, and the groomer must be assigned to it. If they already have an appointment at another location that day, move it first.
- On a phone you can see extra shifts on the calendar, but you add and change them on a computer.
- To change the days a groomer works every week, see Set your business hours.
